About Asia express
Located at 5672 Thornton Ave, Newark, CA 94560, Asia express operates as a chinese restaurant serving Newark in California. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Newark; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in California are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.
The business lists hours on 6 days of the week. Typical hours are 10:30 am–8:30 pm. It is closed on Wednesday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (510) 742-8818. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is asiaexpressca.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.
Customers rate it 4.3 out of 5 on Google across 173 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded chinese restaurants in Newark.
Newark is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Newark is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

"Don’t let the 'Express' name fool you—this is far more than your typical strip-mall takeout. Asia Express is owned and operated by a family of Chinese heritage from Myanmar, and that cultural background translates into a depth of flavor you simply won't find at 'fake' American-Chinese chains. While the setup is convenient, the food tastes like high-end, home-cooked cuisine. You can tell the techniques are traditional; the flavors are vibrant, perfectly seasoned, and lack that generic, sugary taste common elsewhere. Whether you’re grabbing something from the steam table (which is incredibly fresh) or a family dinner, the quality is consistently top-tier. It’s a rare find that offers the convenience of a quick meal with the authenticity of a sit-down restaurant. If you want the real deal made by people who truly know the craft, you should definitely try this place. Favorite dishes: The Spicy Orange Chicken and the Black Bean Sauce Pork Riblets are must-tries!"

Always excellent service and food. Our to go to place for Chinese food. Still have excellent prices. Family meals always have more than enough food left over and serves more than just 4. Great Value

Stumbled upon this place last weekend. It’s a hidden gem when it comes to Chinese food. Price is reasonable with large portions and many choices. Had to go back again on Tuesday for fried rice and spicy orange chicken. Highly recommend!!!

I’m quite shocked how much food they gave me after all of the Chinese takeouts I’ve been too! It’s no wonder that this place has received higher ratings. This plate I have can get you full in no time unless you share it or save up for dinner later. The food here is even tasty. That two-item combo costs around $13! I heard that this restaurant also serves à la carte, but you can also go through fast-food style like what I had today. Place wasn’t really big but the seating area in a way stands out. You can probably wait there until your order is ready. Also, I was scrolling through the foods from the display. Seems that many people ate here during lunch while I came here for dinner. Doesn’t seem that they have plenty of options from the display for combo orders, but that’s alright. Honestly, I thought that the Spicy Orange Chicken would be very spicy, but gladly, it isn’t. I was hoping that I don’t end up drinking too much water from severe spiciness. I have tried the regular Orange Chicken from a similar place, but didn’t like it. This will be one of the favorite Chinese takeouts I will go to for now on. Looking forward for more!
